The Unwanted Gift

It was laying on the table
Still and unpackaged.
The maker spent hours on it;
Doing it with all his/her heart and efforts,
Trying his/her very best to make it presentable.
He/she hopes that the receiver will be filled with sweetness and joy
Upon receiving this prepared gift.

But now despite the gift was done
And despite the maker was pleased with it,
It was not presented.
He/she tried,
But the response was hostile.
What do you suggest the maker to do?
Continue to try to give?
Or continue to leave it laying on the table, collecting dust?
